Preschool Program
The School at McGuire Memorial provides a pre-school program for
students ages 3 - 5. Children with mental retardation who are significantly
physically and developmentally disabled attend the pre-school as
well as those with disabilities who are medically fragile or behaviorally
fragile.
A comprehensive age-appropriate curriculum—one that enriches and simulates—is
designed for the specific needs of each individual student.
The pre-school core curriculum is built around developmentally appropriate themes
such as friendship, animals, etc. Core curriculum components include science,
math, and language arts along with additional special classes in art, music,
and gym.
Pre-school students, like all other students at the School at McGuire Memorial,
participate in recreational aquatics at the on-site
pool and the on-site greenhouse as part of their overall curriculum.
