Send a Christmas Blessing

You can help support McGuire Memorial by sending a Christmas blessing card to a special friend, loved one, neighbor or colleague who has touched your life. Remembering family and friends in this way is a truly touching and memorable Christmas gift—and one that makes a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve at McGuire. Proceeds from the 2007 Christmas Blessing Program will support the Annual Fund of the McGuire Memorial Foundation.

By making a gift of any size to the Christmas Blessing Program, the person you wish to recognize will receive a personalized Christmas blessing card. The card will acknowledge your name but not the gift amount.

Matching Gifts

Multiply the value of your donation through corporate matching gifts. Many friends of McGuire Memorial double or even triple the impact of their gift by having it matched by their or their spouse’s employer. Some companies also match gifts of their retirees.

Inquire with your Human Resources Department to learn if your employer has a corporate matching program. If it does, it usually involves completing a short form and sending it along with your gift to the McGuire Memorial Foundation (or soon after).

Please contact the staff of the McGuire Memorial Foundation at (724) 843-0365 for additional information.

Gifts of Stocks, Securities, Bonds and Mutual Funds

When you make a gift to the McGuire Memorial Foundation with appreciated stock, you qualify for two significant benefits:

  • You pay no capital gains tax on the increased value of the stock.
  • You qualify for an income tax deduction for the full market value of the securities at the time they are donated by you.

Example: You own 1,000 shares of XYZ stock that you purchased in 1985 for $10 a share. The current market value is $25 per share. If you sell the stock, you face a capital gains tax on the amount by which the stock has grown since purchased by you—$15 a share. At 20 percent (the current long-term gain tax percentage), you will face a tax bill of $3,000 on the sale.

However, when you choose to give the McGuire Memorial Foundation this portion of your stock portfolio, your gift is worth $25,000. You may deduct the full fair-market value of this gift up to 30 percent of your adjusted gross income.

The McGuire Memorial Foundation receives $25,000 to use for a priority program or project to benefit the special people served by McGuire Memorial; you get a tax deduction; and the cost incurred by you on your gift to McGuire Memorial is a fraction of its actual value. Best of all, you can make a significant impact on the mission and ministry of McGuire Memorial.

An electronic transfer is the most convenient way to transfer your securities to the McGuire Memorial Foundation. To instruct your broker to transfer your securities from your account to that of the McGuire Memorial Foundation, your broker will need the following information:

  • Tax ID# of McGuire Memorial Foundation: 25-1687137
  • Account Name: McGuire Memorial Foundation
  • DTC Number: 5198
  • Account Number: 799-74E05

Please notify the McGuire Memorial Foundation (724) 843-0365 with information regarding your special gift by informing us of your name, the name and quantity of shares gifted and the anticipated date of transfer.

Additional information about gifts of stock and other non-cash giving will be provided when you contact the McGuire Memorial Foundation.

Planned Giving

When considering estate, financial or long-term tax planning, planned or deferred giving is a commonly used vehicle for making contributions in future years or over a long period of time. Long-term planned giving can be accomplished through a variety of methods, such as bequests, charitable gift annuities and remainder trusts, or life insurance. Many of these planned giving options not only provide tax benefits, but also can provide donors with an income stream as well.

For more information or to discuss specific planned giving options in more detail, please call us at the McGuire Memorial Foundation at 724-843-0365.
